Made for the #creationjam2023 hosted by skysfalling!

The Goal

The goal of the jam was to step out of your comfort zone. While I have used Twine before for a school project, this jam really had me go in depth with it. I learned different kinds of code used for implementing images, and code used for changing the text to personalize the project more.

The Inspiration

The theme of the jam was derealization. I decided to base my game off of the two times I've experienced sleep paralysis. While thankfully no bunny-dragon demons were involved, it was still scary to feel like you can't move, and that you can't tell whether you're asleep or awake.

The Process

Here you can find a google doc where I journaled my process through each day of production: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RqRXNySWKHBRdKR21EzZpeZaHoM9YgLSG-inevLNAGA/...

The very first thing I did before opening Twine was create a simple Draw.io graph. This was to help get a sense of the branching paths and multiple endings. After that came putting everything into Twine. Then came the art!

The Result

This was my first game jam, and overall I had fun! If I was given more time I would've made more art and find a way to implement music and sound effects, but overall I'm proud of what I've made.

Very fun game, very cool too!!! Adorable character design yet still pretty creepy, and I really enjoyed the story that it took me through.

Spoilers for the game below!

First I got the ending where I stayed asleep with him, and then I got the ending where he gave me advice about friendship. I've genuinely been feeling very lonely lately, and this game, although quite short, was very comforting. Thank you!!!

Thank you so much!!! I'm happy you enjoyed it and it warms my heart to hear that that the game was able to give you some comfort! I hope you continue to find comfort in your life and find the things and people that make you happy <3.
